Job Summary

Supporting Biocomposites’ approach to communicating scientific information on unapproved uses (referred to as SIUU) of approved/cleared medical products to Health Care Professionals (HCP) to inform their clinical practice decisions for the care of an individual patient.

Principal Medical Science Liaison.

Location & Working pattern

Keele office (3 days per week),

Standard working hours are Mon-Fri 8.00-16.00, or 9.00-17.00 (35hpw). Flexibility to cover surgeon availability required.

Duties  & Responsibilities

  • To respond to unsolicited requests from clinicians, whilst understanding and applying country specific guidelines for responding to unsolicited requests.
  • Maintain a database of requests and maintain the process for dealing with this for Biocompsites Ltd.
  • Support the provision of SIUU to HCPs across all channels; face-to-face, print and digital
  • Present presentations on relevant studies/clinical data for HCPs in accordance with applicable guidance.
  • Present latest papers and clinical updates in a monthly seminar to Biocomposites staff.
  • Identify and understand how our products are used by HCP in practice within and outside their approval/clearance.
  • Identify and review any new papers for the bibliography of clinical reference sources (e.g. clinical practice guidelines, reference texts) that refer to Biocomposites’ products and competitor products.
  • Work with the rest of the MSL team to understand and develop best practice for the provision of SIUU and the responding to unsolicited requests.
  • As required, offer scientific support to other teams within the company (sales, marketing, regulatory).

Essential requirements

  • Master’s degree in a scientific subject or relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in supporting unsolicited requests.
  • Knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.
  • Good communications skills including scientific writing for different audiences.
  • Flexibility to cover surgeon availability as required.

Desirable requirements

  • Postgraduate certificate in a scientific discipline.
  • Working knowledge of the guidelines for responding to unsolicited requests and sharing SIUU.
  • Ability to present data to a variety of audiences.
  • Prepared to travel as required.
